It was so radical of Ted to say "Vote your conscience.  Vote to defend the Constitution."  Do the unmentionalbles even know what they were booing?

I missed the speech so I just went and watched it on youtub Washington Post I think it was.  I thought it was a great speech and he endorsed certain things like a wall and keeping refugee's out from terrorist nations.  I couldn't find a reason to boo.  He didn't fall to his knees and beg  pardon from King Trump.  I thought the speech was awesome.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

WOW! POLITICAL SUICIDE! TED CRUZ REFUSES TO ENDORSE TRUMP – CROWD BOOS HIM OFF STAGE

Wouldn't real political suicide be a party nominating a guy who can barely get even in the polls with a woman that America universally hates?

I've watching these prez campaigns for over fify years. I've never, ever seen a candidate from either major party call the names, the slander, the insults Trump has called the other Republican candidates. I was hoping Cruz had the character not to cave, and he didn't disappoint me.

That was my hope too. Good to know that Cruz is still a man of principle and stands for the Constitution and the rule of law, not the rule of man. Somebody has to defy the mob, and it appears that Cruz has done it.

He reminds me of the good doctor in Huckleberry Finn who warns the three orphan girls against trusting the two shysters who are trying to rob them of everything they own, and can't get his opinions past the mob:

Quote
"I was your father's friend, and I'm your friend; and I warn you as a friend, and an honest one that wants to protect you and keep you out of harm and trouble, to turn your backs on that scoundrel and have nothing to do with him, the ignorant tramp, with his idiotic Greek and Hebrew, as he calls it.  He is the thinnest kind of an impostor—has come here with a lot of empty names and facts which he picked up somewheres, and you take them for proofs, and are helped to fool yourselves by these foolish friends here, who ought to know better.  Mary Jane Wilks, you know me for your friend, and for your unselfish friend, too.  Now listen to me; turn this pitiful rascal out—I beg you to do it.  Will you?"

Mary Jane straightened herself up, and my, but she was handsome!  She says:

"Here is my answer."  She hove up the bag of money and put it in the king's hands, and says, "Take this six thousand dollars, and invest for me and my sisters any way you want to, and don't give us no receipt for it."

Then she put her arm around the king on one side, and Susan and the hare-lip done the same on the other.  Everybody clapped their hands and stomped on the floor like a perfect storm, whilst the king held up his head and smiled proud.  The doctor says:

"All right; I wash my hands of the matter.  But I warn you all that a time's coming when you're going to feel sick whenever you think of this day." And away he went.

What do they mean when they say "crowd boos"? Do they mean the crowd, as in the crowd or the crowd as in "a faction within the crowd?"

Trump and his people approve the speech. Then, some in the Trump team encourage some in the crowd, especially the New York people to boo and chant "Endorse Trump".
Cruz is trying to be a statesman and Trump is trying to put on a show!

  • Don't blame me, I voted for Ted Cruz.
I supported Cruz and still do not support Trump. I think Cruz should not have shown up in that hall if he was not going to lend more support to the ticket. Maybe he is standing on principle, but what about the principle and honor of signing a pledge and abiding by it because you gave your word?

Only the diehard supporters will think Cruz helped himself tonight.

Cruz did EVERYTHING short of endorsing Trump.  He congratulated Trump on winning the nomination.  He supported conservative principles.  He attacked Hillary.  He told voters to vote for candidates up an down the ticket who will support freedom and defend the constitution.  Not really understanding why Trump had his henchmen whip up the boos or why his supporters are lashing out.  Really, really bad optics.  Cruz did not do ANYTHING wrong, and the Trump team had approved Cruz's speech prior to him taking the stage.  They knew he would not endorse Trump by name, but he did urge voters not to stay home in November and to vote UP and down the ticket!

Trump keeps proving himself to be a narcissistic bleep.  Did he really expect an endorsement from Cruz after the way he maliciously smeared and went after his entire family in the most personal way possible?  I admire Cruz more than ever for refusing to surrender his integrity and honor at the alter of Trumpism.  Trump and the GOP-e, otoh, disgust me!

Btw, Cruz's speech was the best of the convention so far and his best speech ever, IMO.

I actually feel sorry for [Heidi Cruz] as she is not a well person. Having a spiritual and social disease like that as a husband, I can understand why she went off the rails.

If I call your wife a whore will you endorse me for president?

That depends on whether your wife is a whore. I'm pretty sure Cruz's wife isn't.

With Trump, that's an insult by inference. And "vote your conscience," if taken at face value, hardly does anything for Trump, at least amongst voters with consciences to vote.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
That's demonic.
No that's demoncratish, and their all played by their little god who knew well in advance exactly what Cruz was andwas not going to say. Trump makes the obamas and clintons look like amateurs in the vindictive and character assassination departments.

Stop and think about the fact the GOP is threatened by Cruz telling Republicans to "vote their conscience." Let that one sink in for a moment. For the only reason that would be threatening is you're admitting that a vote for Trump is a violation of conscience.- Steve Deace

It is now clear to me that the purpose of this entire RNC campaign is to defeat Conservatism.  Working to defeat Democrats is an afterthought.  Working to defeat liberalism is a non-starter.  We have truly met Orwell's 1984.  Hate Week is upon us.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

The Great Trumpkin in March:

"No, I don't anymore," Trump said, when asked by CNN's Anderson Cooper if he continued "to pledge to support whoever the Republican nominee is?"

Trump said he has "been treated very unfairly" by the Republican National Committee and party establishment figures. The billionaire front-runner accused rival Cruz of "essentially saying the same thing" in response to a question about the pledge.

Earlier, Cruz had told Cooper when asked the same question: "I'm not in the habit of supporting someone who attacks my wife and my family ... I think nominating Donald Trump would be an absolute trainwreck, I think it would hand the general election to Hillary Clinton."

Trump said Cruz "doesn't need to support me, I have tremendous support right now from the people."

"I don't really want him to do something he's not comfortable with," he said.

Of course he was going to try and interrupt Ted's speech, duh!

Ted is a complete ass hole and the majority at the convention think so. He is so dead in the party he really played it wrong by not honoring his pledge. He is a jerk and to think I once liked him never again though.

Its totally bizarre! We scream for someone to stand up against the GOPe. The nominee is surrounded by and cheered on by the establishment and the one man that stood up against the establishment is booed. Its twilight zone material.

Trump got 41% of the primary vote, much from cross-over Democrats. A few weeks ago half of Republicans wanted a new candidate.

Trump is a joke. Trump is a laughingstock. Trump makes poop look good.

Ted Cruz remained true to his principles. His haters have no principles.

OK, let me see if I got this.  For months on end, Donald Trump labels the honorable Ted Cruz as 'Lying Ted', but then after he crossed the threshold for the nomination, Trump openly admits that he has no idea whether Cruz lied or not.  Yet Cruz is the bleep?

You have some whacked out standards there.

Called him lying Ted one too many times.

Exactly.

Words have consequences.

Actions have consequences.

After you've gotten over your temper and sobered up...you can't un-burn-down your neighbor's barn.

This is indicative of, and symbolic of, the chaos that the new Republican Hero, a Tammany graft-channeler and interface between the Democrat Machine and out-of-town developers...this is indicative of the chaos to come.

It will not end well - and I take no joy in this.
