No downside?  Yes, there is a big downside - he risks coming off as just another slippery politician if he lies like that.  His integrity is one thing that many of us admire about him.

There is fawning, there damning with faint praise and there is kind words.

Something like this afternoon where Cruz notes that he beat 15 and Donald beat 16.

Donald completed some YUGe projects like the DC post office and NYC skating rink.

Thats about it.

Recall how Ted dealt with that farmer in Iowa who was worried about ethanol subsidies. Ted spent ten minutes patiently laying out the facts.

Nice insight.  I'm not sure just what Cruz should say.   He knows he's got a future,  obviously more so if Trump loses.   But he can't just come out against Trump, like a "civilian" like me can.   I think the best approach is to make a serious philosophical defense of conservatism itself.  Let everyone make up their minds about what to do with the information.    But the GOP and the nation really needs, at this point in time,  a serous, concise and convincing apologia for liberty and opportunity-centric government.  Like Reagan did back in the sixties.   

Let Cruz hit a pitch in his wheelhouse and shine a light on what Our Side favors,  Trump or no Trump.
