Gen. McChrystal being considered for Trump VP: report

Retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal is reportedly being considered as a potential running mate for presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, ABC News reported Sunday.

McChrystal is the second retired general reportedly being considered for the position. Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is also speculated to be in the running as a potential vice presidential pick for Trump.

McChrystal retired from the military in 2010, after serving as the top commander in Afghanistan.

He was relieved of his position by President Obama after giving a controversial interview to Rolling Stone magazine, where he made critical comments about some top U.S. officials.

Obama said in an interview at the time that McChrystal's comments in the article did "not meet the standards that should be set by a commanding general."

"It undermines the civilian control of the military ... and it erodes the trust that is necessary for our team to work together to achieve our objectives in Afghanistan," Obama said at the time.

After the article's publication, McChrystal retired from the military and apologized for the piece.

Since then, he has taught and served on leadership boards at Yale University.

So he's one of is it 14 or 17 now on the list????

I'm just glad Trumps looking at more than a few....and some are very good prospects I'd be happy about. Others not so much.....not sure if a General would be the right pick for VP???????  But I'm very much interested in who he ultimately chooses for VP and the rest of his cabinet.

He hasn't landed any nomination.  If he happens to get the nomination at the convention he still has a lot of work to do to earn my vote and his campaign methods so far haven't come close earning even my respect let alone my vote.

I can't see McCrystal volunteering to be the second fiddle to that raving lunatic any more than Flynn, who was McCrystal's Intel chief in Afghanistan and Iraq, although Flynn is a registered Dem. The only way, would be if McCrystal had complete control over Defense and State, without Trump's interference. That would never happen. His success in uniform was his unorthodox leadership style and treading on the margins of the norm.

Yes, Trump's lies are a large part of why Cruz lost to him.

It's easy to resort to such tactics.  A decent man rises above deceit.  Trump is neither decent nor much of a man.

How can you still make that claim with all of the stories about his lack on infrastructure and campaigns lack of organization in most states? He won despite his campaign not because of it.

Indeed - That's why everyone lost. And there's only Trump to blame.

Even yet, Trump's divisive bridge-burning campaign has left a deep mark - which is why he can't get money, or endorsements... Why anyone who is campaigning is distancing from him... *No* coattails at all... And it is precisely why he is going into his nomination at a convention where his success is threatened.

And it is precisely why he will lose in November.
