Sheriff David Clarke: Americans Need to ‘Condemn and Shun’ the Black Lives Matter Movement

n the wake of the deadly police ambush in Dallas, Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke urged Americans to “condemn and shun” the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I would like to see the Southern Poverty Law Center place Black Lives Matter alongside those other hate groups that were mentioned — these black nationalist groups, the Black Panther Party, the Nation of Islam,” Clarke told Fox News host Megyn Kelly Friday night.

While doing so would not necessarily make the Black Lives Matter movement “go away,” the sheriff said it would cause people to “delegitimize” and “marginalize” the group.

“This movement needs to be marginalized,” Clarke told the “Kelly File” host. “We have looked at this stuff, we’ve peeled back the layers, we’ve looked at the data, we’ve looked at the research.”

Kelly pushed back against Clarke’s comments, pointing out that Micah Xavier Johnson, the suspected Dallas gunman who killed five police officers, was not necessarily affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement. But Clarke stood his ground.

“He said he wanted to kill white people,” Clarke insisted.

The sheriff told the Fox News anchor that, in his mind, it is time for the “liberal mainstream media” to “stop walking on eggshells and giving legitimacy” to the “false narrative” about police officers being promoted by the Black Lives Matter movement.
