Comey-Hillary verdict reflects our own “culture of cynicism and hopelessness”

FBI Director James Comey delivered the verdict on Hillary Clinton today – not guilty by reason of … of … of ….

There are a lot of details on why this was a miscarriage of justice. The best starting place is Andy McCarthy’s column at National Review, FBI Rewrites Federal Law to Let Hillary Off the Hook.

But those are mere details. Important details, critical details, details worth writing about — but not the big picture.

My Opa who lived under Hitler's rise to power in the old country said exactly the same thing.

He understood what happened and said what I have been saying for the last couple of years - our nation was overthrown in a coup.

I call it a velvet coup, but as Opa says - "the people in the old country went along with it and refused to believe what the naysaysers at the Munich Post were warning.  We really thought that it was not possible for the things they were saying to happen".

The difference between the mindset of the people in the Soviet Union and those in Nazi Germany is that populism and Nationalism made tyranny appealing and seen as a duty.

There is no law for those in power, only for those of us they want to crush.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
