With the Republican National Convention fast approaching, a pro-abortion rights group is working to tie GOP members of Congress who have said they’ll skip the event in Cleveland to their party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
NARAL Pro-Choice America kicked off its online advertising blitz Thursday with the slogan #TrumpSquadGoals, linking vulnerable Republican senators and congressmen with anti-abortion views to Donald Trump and GOP party leadership. The Republicans targeted in NARAL’s new campaign include Sens. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.). Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.), who is running to replace Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), rounds out the group.
