A Close Election in Austria

Norbert Hofer of the far-right Freedom Party has conceded to Alexander Van der Bellen, an independent.

Krishnadev Calamur | May 23, 2016

Norbert Hofer, the presidential candidate of the far-right Freedom Party, has conceded the close presidential election against Alexander Van der Bellen, the independent candidate backed by the Green Party, Austria’s interior ministry announced Monday.

After counting the 750,000 postal votes, which accounted for 12 percent of the country’s 6.4 million registered voters, Van der Bellen had 50.3 percent of the vote against Hofer’s 49.7 percent. The margin of victory was 31,026 votes.

Hofer conceded even before the results were made official

The very first election since WWII, not one by a main establishment party. The right winger lost by a very narrow margin.

Do you think the muslims rushing borders, has anything to do with this? I do. Plus utter rejection of politics as it is known.

My point posting all of these countries, is to show it is not Trump, or Brexit. It is the entire world bringing about change.

If you deny it, you have your head buried somewhere besides the clear blue sky of reality.

If you have the capacity to be intellectually honest, have even the slightest curiosity, maybe just maybe, try learning WHY Trump has come this far.

His voters DO COUNT, regardless the outcome this go around. Ignore this at your peril.

The right lost this time in Austria.

But next time, they'll win.
