US election: Donald Trump's first 100 days in office

Republican Donald Trump has set out what he will prioritise in office, if he beats Democrat Hillary Clinton in November's election.

"There is one common theme in all of these reforms. It's going to be America First," he said in a broad-ranging speech in New York.

Here is his plan for the first 100 days:
1. Appoint Supreme Court justices

Mr Trump has pledged to appoint judges who will uphold the Constitution and thinks "radical" judges that could be appointed by Hillary Clinton would "virtually abolish" the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms.

There is a vacancy in the Supreme Court because former justice Antonin Scalia, a conservative, died earlier this year.
2. Change immigration rules

Mr Trump has said undocumented immigrants in the US take jobs that US citizens could have.

Controversially, he has also said repeatedly - although not in this speech - that he would build a wall on the southern border that Mexico would pay for, to stop Mexico's criminals and rapists from coming to the US.

He also wants to ban Muslims from entering the country in an attempt to prevent terrorism, a move that has provoked fierce criticism from within his own party.
3. Lift energy and drilling restrictions

Mr Trump has said there should be less regulation of energy production and that the US should drill more for oil and gas.

He said the country's energy potential remains "untapped".
4. Repeal Obamacare

Mr Trump has called Obamacare a disaster and that he pledges to repeal and replace it. He says it is a job-killer and ineffective.

Obamacare, which is actually the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, is President Barack Obama's signature law and aims to extend health insurance to those in the country that do not have it.
5. Punish firms that send jobs overseas

He has threatened to raise taxes on US-based companies that have moved operations overseas, like Pfizer, Ford and Nabisco.
6. Lower taxes for everyone

He said lowering taxes for all - businesses and people - would create millions of new jobs.

Mr Trump declared in his New York speech, wrongly, that the US has the highest taxes in the world. Politifact says it is actually ranked near the bottom among OECD countries.

His tax plan would not raise taxes on the top earners in the US.
7. Impose ethics rules to the office of Secretary of State

He said Mrs Clinton ran the State Department like her own personal hedge fund and that she is responsible for the death of American diplomats in Benghazi, and that she was a destabilising force in the Middle East.

Mr Trump has also criticised her use of personal email while working as secretary of state.

Mrs Clinton said the speech was "more hypocritical lies and nutty conspiracy theories".
8. Cancel trade rules with other countries

Trade deals with other countries are "killing" the country, he has said, and that he will defend the US against countries that "cheat" on trade like China.

Trump is for America First.
"Crooked Hillary Clinton is the Secretary of the Status Quo – and wherever Hillary Clinton goes, corruption and scandal follow." D. Trump 7/11/16

Of course... those are only vague suggestions.
Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

I stopped reading after reading this line of BS.  Trump does not mention the Constitution when discussing the appointment of judges.  This is yet another example of a Trump supporter attributing positions to Trump that he simply does not hold.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

1. Appoint Supreme Court justices

How? The president nominates. The Senate confirms.

2. Change immigration rules

How? The President is responsible for enforcing the laws. Not making them.

3. Lift energy and drilling restrictions

This he can do almost immediately. The agencies of the Executive arm are under his direct control.

4. Repeal Obamacare

How? The President enforces laws. He neither makes them nor repeals them.

5. Punish firms that send jobs overseas

How? Congress raises taxes (in both senses). Not the President.

6. Lower taxes for everyone

How? See 5.

7. Impose ethics rules to the office of Secretary of State

This he can do, although it is redundant since the State Dept has ethics rules. Hillary didn't follow them.

8. Cancel trade rules with other countries

Good luck with that. Unilaterally breaking an agreement, whether it be trade, defense, passage, tends to have bad consequences for the country doing the breaking. Also, most such agreements are in the form of treaties - which Congress has a large say in.

This people want king.

They do not care if they are a Fascist or a Marxist Communist.

Whatever they think their prince or princess will give them, is the one they will call their political messiah.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Oh, the problem with Hillary while she was SoS was there were no ethics rules in place!

Most of this list is laughable, but this one is THE best.

http://taxfoundation.org/article/corporate-income-tax-rates-around-world-2015

'The United States has the third highest general top marginal corporate income tax rate in the world at 39 percent, which is the same as Puerto Rico and is exceeded only by Chad and the United Arab Emirates.
The worldwide average top corporate income tax rate (accounting for 173 countries and tax jurisdictions) is 22.9 percent, 29.8 percent weighted by GDP.
By region, Europe has the lowest average corporate tax rate at 18.7 percent (26.1 percent weighted by GDP). Africa has the highest simple average at 28.77 percent.'

He only has to enforce the laws we already have.  Instead of banning 'muslims' ban anyone from country planning to overthrow govt of United States.  Let CAIR have their hissy fit - so what.

Clearly the rules have been ignored.  Need to change some laws to make them applicable to ALL - no more protected class.

Yup!  How many leases did the obamunist cancel on federal lands - which is way tooooooo much of the West.  Those states should be able to develop their own resources.

I don't believe the repubs would fail to confirm judges he nominates as long as they conform to the list he has already put forth - they will be appointed.

'These trade agreements are negotiated by giant multinational corporations along with government officials who understand they will get lucrative jobs with those corporations. They benefit only the 1% and the billionaires behind these corporations. They have not helped our economy and have not increased jobs. In fact they have led to massive trade deficits that are draining our economy, massive job loss and wage loss, and job fear for those still working.'

Sorry for taking so much space - I had difficulty trying to cut and paste all in one 'reply' box
