The U.S. Navy Sails the Great Green Fleet to Europe with a Warning

The U.S. Navy brought its “Great Green Fleet” to Europe this week—meant to be a demonstration both of the importance of alternative energy and the dangers of depending on Russian- or Chinese-supplied fuel.
The Navy touts its bio-fuel project as helping cut its oil use by 16% over the last seven years. But Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is pushing the project on security grounds—ensuring that the U.S., its allies and partners are not dependent on oil or fuel supplies from potential rivals.
Mr. Mabus pointed to Russia’s threats to cut off fuel to Ukraine.
