The Taliban now hold more ground in Afghanistan than at any point since 2001
Lynne O'Donnell, The Associated Press 9:33 a.m. EDT June 16, 2016

KABUL, Afghanistan — The new U.S. commander in Afghanistan has submitted his first three-month assessment of the situation in the war-torn country and what it's going to take to defeat the Taliban, a U.S. military official has told The Associated Press.

And though the content of the review by Army Gen. John W. Nicholson is secret, the U.S. strategy in Afghanistan received a major incentive this month when President Obama decided to expand America's involvement with more airstrikes against insurgents, giving the U.S. military wider latitude to support Afghan forces, both in the air and on the ground.

  • Your what hurts??
Directly contradicting what the Preezy just said yesterday.

What really worries me is that nearly without exception, every time Obama opens his mouth to make some statement, within hours someone or something directly shows not only how wrong and what a bad liar he is, but how completely detached from reality Obama really is.

This is becoming more and more dangerous as it is allowed to continue.  I fear the Chinese deciding that they have nothing to fear from Obammy, and decide that sinking on of our aircraft carriers has a real appeal, and would underline Chinese commitment to their "Nine Dash Line" in the South China Sea.  Or maybe Russia will decide sinking an American warship in the Black Sea carries the same risk as taking Crimea did.

These are tremendously dangerous times for America to have such magical thinker in charge of the White House.

In retrospect, it would have been a better move for the United States (and The West) to have -supported- the old Soviet Union in their invasion of Afghanistan back in 1979...

Taliban has been gaining ground, and popularity with the people as the country has not made the recovery the People thought would happen.  The Taliban pays those who join in far over and above any other way to make a living in the country.....

As usual...it's all about the money.
