GOP Committee Says Hell No to Defunding Obamacare

John Gray
June 7, 2016

Immediately after the 2014 elections, an op-ed appeared in the Wall Street Journal from House and Senate leaders John Boehner (R-OH) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY). In it, they pledged to get the country back on track, which included “renewing our commitment to repeal ObamaCare, which is hurting the job market along with Americans’ health care.”

care repeal was a campaign promise for nearly every Republican—you’ll recall that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell campaigned on repealing the law “root and branch”—and one of the most decisive issues that propelled Republicans to retake the Senate from Democrats. Yet, the unimaginable happened: Republicans never repealed Obamacare.  In fact, they hardly even tried.

Today, with little fanfare, McConnell’s Senate appropriators will advance a bill to fund the law they promised to repeal.
The start of that process began this morning when the Senate’s Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Health passed a spending bill that provided full funding for Obamacare.

  • Cruz 2016- a Constitutional Conservative at last!
Campaign promises?  What campaign promises?

I thought budget-boy Paul Ryan (who some people still insist on calling a conservative) already gave Obama all he asked for and more.
Principles matter. Words matter.

If Obama was smart he'd allow one of these Obamacare repeals go through, just to see the sheer panic on the faces of the Republican leadership in the House and Senate when they realize they need to come up with an alternative.  And they don't have one.

Cruz was hated in many quarters for trying to fulfill the promise with his lonely filibuster.

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.
