4 tips for GIMP beginners

Everybody is a beginner sometime. And for new users to GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, starting out with a new interface can be daunting, especially when you downloaded it just because you wanted to make a few simple modifications like cropping or resizing an image. Fortunately, there are lots of resources out there to help you get started.

I often look up how to do things on GIMP but I almost never remember, lol.

It's not always a very easy program to use.

There's a project called Gimpshop (https://www.gimpshop.com/) that redesigned the GIMP user interface to be close to that of Photoshop.  I don't know if the project is still being maintained, but It's worth taking a look.

2) It's none of your business.

I'm still running on the 64 bit version they put out years and years ago.  I tried one of the revisions a few years ago and really didn't care for they changes they made to the standard interface so I reverted back to the old one.  For vectors I use CorelDraw 6.

GIMP runs on Windows, OS X, and Linux.  And likely, if you have any *nix type of system, a version is already available or can be compiled.

I was afraid to click the link.  Sounded like a kinky porno site for people who want to get into nonable-bodied persons.

I meant GIMPshop and this word "compile" scares me. :p

I don't use it often so I have the same problem.

I like GIMP. I've been using it on Windows for almost a decade now.

(And no, alas, GimpShop isn't maintained anymore. The guy running it got ticked and stopped maintaining it a few years ago because someone decided to take the gimpshop.com domain and distribute their own, adware-laden copy of it.)
