The authoritarian blow-hard is causing lifelong conservatives to abandon their principles.  Sad.

Poll: How Many Republicans Switch Their Opinions On Key Issues To Match Trump?

Perhaps the most unfortunate part of real estate mogul Donald Trump's candidacy is how Republicans have become eager to abandon their principles and support the growth of government just because that is what Trump believes.

A recent YouGov/Huffington Post poll shows that when Republican respondents were asked about the minimum wage, 52 percent said they were opposed to an increase in the minimum wage. Forty-eight percent supported increasing the minimum wage. Those numbers changed when Trump was entered into the equation.

The poll asked half of the respondents, "Donald Trump has said he’d like to see the minimum wage increased. Would you favor or oppose raising the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour?" Suddenly, 24 percent of Republicans "strongly favored" increasing the minimum wage and 34 percent of Republicans "somewhat favored" raising it. Only 20 percent of Republicans "somewhat opposed" and 15 percent "strongly opposed" raising the minimum wage.

The poll also asked the other half of the respondents the opposite question: "Donald Trump has said he would not raise the minimum wage. Would you favor or oppose raising the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour?" The numbers among Republicans once again changed: 18 percent "strongly favor" and 26 percent "somewhat favor" a minimum wage increase in that instance, as opposed to 23 percent who "somewhat oppose" and 27 percent who "strongly oppose" increasing the minimum wage.

These results are consistent with a YouGov/Huffington Post poll back in August that compared Republicans views on universal healthcare, Social Security, the Iran nuclear deal, and affirmative action when they were told a leftist Democrat supported them vs. Trump supporting them:

Republicans' views on universal healthcare when told that President Barack Obama supports it:
  • 3 percent strongly support
  • 13 percent somewhat agree
  • 20 percent somewhat disagree
  • 57 percent strongly disagree
Republicans' views on universal healthcare when told that Trump supports it:
  • 15 percent strongly agree
  • 29 percent somewhat agree
  • 14 percent somewhat disagree
  • 21 percent strongly disagree
Republicans' views on protecting Social Security when told former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton supports it:
  • 30 percent strongly agree
  • 27 percent somewhat agree
  • 8 percent somewhat disagree
  • 15 percent strongly disagree
Republicans' views on protecting Social Security when told that Trump supports it:
  • 55 percent strongly agree
  • 19 percent somewhat agree
  • 9 percent somewhat disagree
  • 6 percent strongly disagree

Huffpo???? :silly: :silly:

More than likely LIVs
Why didn't they do DEM's

I am waiting until after the conventions to see likely voter polls on subjects, when more people are paying attention.

I am Repub4Bush on FR '02

Another illustration of the Cult surrounding the Witless Ape.
Roy Moore's "spiritual warfare" is driving past a junior high without stopping.

I don't go to Huffington Post for news but their polling in previous elections was as accurate as some of the others.  I don't care about DEMs changing their beliefs.  Our side is supposed to be the bulwark against many of the policies Trump is proposing -- and that resistance is crumbling due to his supporters' blind devotion.
