While this does seem on first glance to be a clever attack on Trump, the problem for the Democrats is that the attack simply draws more attention to the underlying accusation of rape. If Hillary or some surrogate says "If he was a rapist, why did you invite him to your wedding (ha-ha)", Trump would just respond with "for the same reason I sent you money -- because politicians screw over businesses who don't kowtow to them." "Or, "I only had to put up with him for a few hours -- you're the one who stood by the rapist for years and years, and slandered the women who were the victims." He wins that argument every time.
And if Clinton or her surrogates push the issue, the more they are making the entire argument based on an assumption that Bill is a rapist. They're fighting on terrain of Trump's choosing.
Sure, Trump is a hypocrite on this. The problem is that Trump's hypocrisy is less of a sin than the conduct of Bill in raping someone, or Hillary in enabling him in the face of such accusations.
