Senator Bernie Sanders is projected to win Tuesday night’s West Virginia primary over Hillary Clinton and cut into her delegate lead, based off exit poll figures.
While Sanders win helps the senator, it is unlikely that a win in Mountain State will get Sanders any closer to the nomination.
Only 29 delegates are at stake on Tuesday, meaning that even a dominating win for Sanders would still leave him nearly 800 delegates behind Clinton (when accounting for all-important Super Delegates).
Clinton needs just 155 delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination with 1,083 still remaining to be allocated.
