SEATTLE (AP) — Sen. Ted Cruz's now-defunct presidential campaign is being sued over the background music it used in two videos.

Audiosocket, a music licensing company based in Seattle and New Orleans, filed the lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Court in Seattle against Cruz for President and the advertising firm Madison McQueen. It says an agreement between Audiosocket and Madison McQueen expressly barred the use of the songs for political purposes.

The lawsuit seeks hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. Neither the Cruz campaign nor Madison McQueen immediately returned emails seeking comment.

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Sounds like this is between Madison McQueen and Audiosocket.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Frank, this is a thread about the Cruz campaign. You'd think a lawyer and scholar of Cruz's magnitude wouldn't have made that mistake. Just goes to show even Cruz is flawed.

That mistake?  What exactly is this mistake that Ted Cruz made?  Please be specific.

Was the prohibition in teeny tiny print?  This is a subject I know something about.  It is very strange for a company to sell the use of their music and care whether or not it is used for a political commercial.  Very strange.  Usually there is a price difference between private use and corporate use and then between corporate educational and marketing use vs a product commercial.  But politics?  That's strange.  Now tell me, why can they refuse service to someone for their beliefs yet a baker cannot refuse to make a gay wedding cake?

Usually a music production company will sell music libraries to video production companies and they can use it all they want.  Then sometimes it is purchased song by song.  The fact that they would deserve hundreds of thousands of dollars in so-called damages is ridiculous.  Regardless, I believe it is the production company who would be liable.  That's why you hire them.

The Cruz campaign hired the work out to a production company.  They don't micromanage the music contractual issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if team Lawsuit Donald isn't behind this somehow.

When it is Trump, it is always his fault and incompetence.  :silly:
