Iowa is officially withholding government money from any company that is boycotting Israel.

Lawmakers have made it clear that that the state of Iowa does not want to encourage boycotting of any kind. Governor Terry Branstad approved the law on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

“The general assembly is deeply concerned and does not support boycotts and related tactics that have become a tool of economic warfare that threaten the sovereignty and security of allies and trade partners of the United States, including the state of Israel,” read the legislature.

By March 1, 2017, state leaders will have a list of companies that publicly announce a boycott of Israel.  Companies on this list will not get any money or investments from the State of Iowa.
