Does it occur to you that it is possible that two bad people can be equally as bad as each other, in their own ways? That is what we have here.
They're both terrible people, though as you note they're terrible in different ways. The biggest difference is that (for now) Clinton is likely to be effective, because she has the media and her party and the entrenched bureaucracy ready to support her; and Trump does not.
No matter what level of enthusiasm is on display from his ardent apologists, Trump would at least be subject to a certain amount of checks and balances -- maybe even checks and balances to a crippling extent. Can we say the same about Clinton? No.
Trump would be a terrible president, yes. But Clinton would be worse.
