Loads on server - split from another thread. Please read.
« on: May 07, 2016, 02:47:19 am »
Something else I've noticed in the past 3 weeks or so here at The Briefing Room.

With the sudden influx of newcomers, it seems like the TBR's server is straining under the additional load.

Having to tap my fingers and wait when I try to bring up an article, or bring up the "reply" page.

Mystery -- anything that can be done about that...?

We've been looking into this, it is annoying to have to wait.

If you are experiencing exceptionally slow loading times, please could you report it to Mod3 (he rarely does anything .... ) with the time in EST, the thread you were looking at and the server response (it is at the very bottom of the page and says "Page created in 0.291 seconds with 11 queries." )

If you know how to do a tracert, please feel free to do that also and include the results - the IP is 216.224.171.220

Just for me, this has not been a problem, no slow waiting times or anything.

Good!

It's been intermittently happening for some - and the more information they have, the better the techies can work out what to do. To know if they need to sacrifice a white rooster at the full moon, or a black one. (I know little about how this stuff works).

In the past hour or so the Page Load and wait times are longer than anything I've seen at TBR ( These are intermittent)

Just a heads up.  Reported at

We're talking about Cloud services in the Computers forum.

Why not simply switch to AWS and scale servers as needed?
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

The forum currently runs on a virtual server that allows scaling up of resources.  It's not entirely clear what the problem is because they say things are okey-dokey from their side.  The VPS management panel indicates that something is over limits, but doesn't say what, and each of the resource-specific indicators don't seem to be over limit.
