Young Al Kooper on this video, guitar; also, Frank Zappa is on some old Steve Allen show and that video is at youtube.

Kooper is fairly well-known as well:

In the still shot of your video is drummer Tom Austin. Got his autograph 4 years ago while attending a multi-part presentation/lecture (https://www.facebook.com/MorrisMuseum/posts/171674159561253) on the history of NJ rock 'n roll at a local museum.

Thanks for the facebook and info.

Actually, this is all real fascinating to me, I'm a bit of a nostalgic buff and we talked about New Jersey about a year ago:

I can't readily find the link but we discussed Wildwood New Jersey and its attractions, I had links. Hotels that have been left alone to look frozen in time and some candy store, fudge factory. It sounded like a blast.

This nostalgia forum I go to sometimes is called the "Rock City Boogie" forum.

This is the link I probably posted there: http://doowopusa.org/index.html

Take for example, this picture, this is sharp and that they've tried to retain that identity, they even call them Doo Wop hotels, not sure about that but it's good they respect that era.

James Dean, Marilyn, Elvis and so on.

My pleasure, TomSea!

My favorite music period is 50s to mid 60s or so & my favorite genre is doo wop.

At that museum lecture, also got autographs from an original member of The Duprees as well as an original member of Vito & The Salutations. Also have one of Darlene Love & Tom Favale (lead of The Emotions) among others. Just noticed this sub forum yesterday...so when I see any 50s/60s stuff here. will try to chime in.

Not familiar with Wildwood (I'm in northern NJ now), but of course know Wildwood Days...

Basically, I think Wildwood is sort of like a '50s theme park nowadays. I have not been there though.

And so on.

Yes, I know a fair amount of Doo Wop, the famous hits but there are tons of songs of course which you know,  the Duprees did, without looking it up, "You belong to me" I think. Then, some other band, maybe the Marcels did "Blue Moon"; all very good.

None of the original Duprees are still performing & their original lead passed away.

Loved Fred Johnson's bass voice on both Blue Moon & Heartaches; they were from Pittsburgh...where my wife was born.

Of course, after The Shirelles covered The Five Royales, The Mamas & Papas returned the favor:

I go to the Rock City Boogie Forum, anyone can find it if they google it; I don't care to put a link up. It's actually French. They get a lot of US acts over there and, there main thing is Rockabilly and a lot of it is pretty obscure but there is some doo wop, some others.

I'm more familiar say, with what we hear on the top 40 oldies stations and think the 1950s music is splendid.

I've posted Connie Francis at that forum, "Where the boys are", etc.  Some tv show in England used "lipstick on your collar" as the theme of their show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2q5DjYsEMQ

There is a Connie Francis (born Newark NJ) tribute singer out there now, she travels around doing Connie. I think she was travelling with a Buddy Holly tribute show.

Ervin Travis, a Frenchman whom I mentioned the other day and posted a video, does Gene Vincent who is very popular over there. He came down with Lyme disease.

The head of the rock city boogie forum is Birdy; you see some wild stuff from the 1950s there.

Last November, Birdy, who is like Celtic, up in that Eastern part of France, Brittany, not far from where the Normandy invasion was, she had a stroke.... but she came back! Which is cool. I don't really read French, I'd websearch for stuff from the 1950s and time again, it took me to that forum, images and stuff. They do post some "risque" images from the '50s, so that's a bit of a disclaimer in case, one is very strict in their outlook but I get a kick and they post a lot of videos and things. One guy has a hobby of getting old pinball machines, etc. Stuff like that. It's not a big forum, much smaller than this but the "Bar/Defouloir" has a daily posting where people meet, sometimes only a few posts but I like it. Sorry for the long post.

Once some pop up came up saying something about the website but I think that was just an ad for malware but I wanted to make sure everything is straight up. I once ran a virus check and nothing happened.

Marvin Rainwater does that fine song "Gonna Find Me a Blue Bird" (country or popular, he did rockabilly sort of)  but he did a duet with Connie Francis that got some airplay.

Have heard in many times...I listen to 50s on 5 on Sirius/XM radio.

I'm not good at defining rockabilly, but here's one (I played it & my other vinyl for 3 hours when I guested on an oldies radio show about 20 years ago)...this may be one of the shortest records ever made:
