I go to the Rock City Boogie Forum, anyone can find it if they google it; I don't care to put a link up. It's actually French. They get a lot of US acts over there and, there main thing is Rockabilly and a lot of it is pretty obscure but there is some doo wop, some others.
I'm more familiar say, with what we hear on the top 40 oldies stations and think the 1950s music is splendid.
I've posted Connie Francis at that forum, "Where the boys are", etc. Some tv show in England used "lipstick on your collar" as the theme of their show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2q5DjYsEMQThere is a Connie Francis (born Newark NJ) tribute singer out there now, she travels around doing Connie. I think she was travelling with a Buddy Holly tribute show.
Ervin Travis, a Frenchman whom I mentioned the other day and posted a video, does Gene Vincent who is very popular over there. He came down with Lyme disease.
The head of the rock city boogie forum is Birdy; you see some wild stuff from the 1950s there.
Last November, Birdy, who is like Celtic, up in that Eastern part of France, Brittany, not far from where the Normandy invasion was, she had a stroke.... but she came back! Which is cool. I don't really read French, I'd websearch for stuff from the 1950s and time again, it took me to that forum, images and stuff. They do post some "risque" images from the '50s, so that's a bit of a disclaimer in case, one is very strict in their outlook but I get a kick and they post a lot of videos and things. One guy has a hobby of getting old pinball machines, etc. Stuff like that. It's not a big forum, much smaller than this but the "Bar/Defouloir" has a daily posting where people meet, sometimes only a few posts but I like it. Sorry for the long post.
Once some pop up came up saying something about the website but I think that was just an ad for malware but I wanted to make sure everything is straight up. I once ran a virus check and nothing happened.
