After information about ISIS fighters who are prepared to carry out terrorist activities in Sweden, the police in the West Region has now increased its preparedness, SVT reports..
On Tuesday, several media reported that police in Stockholm and the National Operational Department, NOA, was working on a so-called special event because they received information that several ISIS terrorists can be in Sweden with the goal of carrying out terrorist acts in the country.
- We must be prepared if something happens, says Robert Karlsson, commanding chief of the special unit.
- The staff has gone up to information mode. We keep ourselves informed about what the security police is working on, says Tommy Nyman, police spokesman of the West Region.
- We did it yesterday and the purpose is to support national efforts. We should be prepared to help if something happens. But there is no concrete threat to western Sweden, says Robert Karlsson.
But it is due to the terrorist threat and the information about ISIS in Sweden?
- It is because of the information we have received from the Police Security Service, and because of that we should be prepared to support any national effort, says Karlsson.
