Happiness and harmony is not based on the nation-state. There are plenty of nation-states around the world that are not happy nor harmonious but perfectly sovereign. Government, whether local, state, national or international does not make the people happy nor harmonious, it is not something the government has the power to do. It can only take and grab and harm.

That which governs least, governs best. Less government power, less government wealth, less government interference is what will increase happiness and harmony.

Trump's statements smacks of "we all belong to the government" crapola that the leftists were spewing a while back. No surprise.

There is a seductive veneer of truth to this, but when you think of it, it boils down to nothing more than "it's better to be friends with your neighbors" because the phrase holds equally well if you substitute "city state" or even "neighborhood" for "nation state".  Ben Franklin got the pith of it when he said along the lines of: we had better hang together for we shall surely hang separately.

As a US citizen, a large part of my happiness as an American lies within a national pride and American Exceptionalism.  What does that have to do with government?  Is it too much to ask an American president to actually protect American interests and its citizens, first of foremost?

Also, please post the full quote, and not this MSM game of pulling one sentence out of a speech to smear a Republican.

I know, people like Trump build it and employ the people who work in it.

Great point, Arne!
