A retired middle school principal was so moved by Donald Trump that he switched his Democratic Party registration so he can vote for him in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary.

So did the daughter of a steelworker, who twice voted for President Barack Obama but says she is “over” the Democrats’ political correctness....

Well.. trumps wife and son didn't.

Just sayin'.
Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

"Others moved abruptly, inspired by Trump and fed up with a party they say no longer speaks their language.

Together the result is one of the most sizable shifts of partisan allegiance ever in Pennsylvania: 61,500 Democrats have become Republicans so far this year, part of a 145,000 jump in Republican registrations since the fall 2015 election, according to state figures analyzed by both parties. It’s more new Republicans than in the previous four years combined.

The onslaught has helped make Trump the favorite heading into Tuesday’s primary, helping put Pennsylvania, which voted for Obama twice, in play in the November presidential election.

“The party-switching has been going on in an evolutionary way for two decades. This just propelled it faster,” said G. Terry Madonna, a professor at Franklin and Marshall University in Lancaster, Pa. “Many of them are Reagan Democrats – white, working-class, blue-collar, incomes of $35,000 to $40,000 or less, high school educations or less.”

“They feel frustrated, they feel left behind,” Madonna said. “They feel Trump is sticking it to the man.”

East of urban Pittsburgh, at Trump headquarters in Monroeville, volunteer Tricia Cunningham said that half the people who walk through the door are party switchers. So many supporters have come in to pick up lawn signs or volunteer that the office has had to open a second floor, and signs are limited to just one per person, Cunningham said."

Stories such as this provide evidence for the Trump claim hecan pull in enough disgruntled Democrats and Independents to win the Presidential election. Note it is solely his gaining of formerly Democrat voters, but the Democrats loss of them.

Romney lost to Zero by about 300K votes in PA. 145K more GOP voters isn't going to mean squat against the Rat machine in Pitt and Philthy. Beyond that these Trump Rats are more than likely going to vote Rat down ticket.....because they are Rat voters. They are just excited that there is a Rat running running as a candidate for the GOP.

I'd call kissing up to trannies as politically correct.   888buttkisser

He seems to be drifting left now that he thinks he's got the nom. Kinda reminds me of Romney actually.

Everybody focuses on the blue collar voters in PA.  We get stories like this every four years.  The densely populated areas around Philly are much like the rest of the northeast.  Trump and his mouth will fare poorly there, especially among the college educated.

You despise Trump so no matter what he says, you'll be against it or won't comment. What is your opinion on reciprocity for state issued concealed carry which Trump favors? I live in a state that doesn't even require a permit for concealed carry. The streets aren't running in blood, despite the big increase in illicit drug trafficking and use.

Yeah it was great, as was his health care position paper. But he never hardly mentions that stuff. It's like a lackey wrote the position and threw it out for some red meat. But when he speaks, he flip flops constantly (like Romney), and doesn't seem to know the content of his own position papers.

He triangulates, tells people what they want to hear, but he's drifting left as he convinces himself he's the presumptive nominee (kinda like Romney). 'Cause the other stuff was all just a persona.

He's one of the best politicians around, almost better than Bubba. Definitely better than Romney, who Trump makes look conservative.

First he was a Democrat, then he was a Republican.

Eventually they'll end up Democrats again. Just like Arlen Specter.

I don't know about the rest of the Republicans in Pennsylvania.  I have already identified the pro-Cruz delegates on my ballot and they will get my vote.  Who wins the beauty contest at the top means very little in this state.

Yet the general election comes around and if Trump is the nominee,  they will vote for Hillary.

Ronald Reagan was a democrat, then he was a republican. He didn't end up a democrat again. Aren't you old enough to remember that?

I was a preschooler when Reagan left office. So technically no, I'm not old enough to remember that, if you must ask.

Furthermore, Reagan was not from Pennsylvania.

Yes, but Reagan was a conservative.

Reagan was a Republican who plainly stated that a party and support couldn't be expanded through subtraction. Something all the "principled conservatives" seem to forget.
