The ISIS militants attacked Peshmerga forces using Katyusha rockets containing mustard gas on Gwer frontline on April 20, said a Peshmerga commander.

On Wednesday, ISIS militants attacked Peshmerga forces on the Gwer frontline near Makhmour using 10 Katyusha rockets containing mustard gas. At least 4 Peshmerga fighters were wounded by the rockets and the doctors discovered the signs of chemical gases through the health complications the wounded Peshmerga were suffering from, such as shortness of breath, the commander said.

ISIS militants had used a surveillance drone before conducting the attack, and shortly after the drone was seen above the Peshmerga bases, ISIS militants began to shell the Peshmerga forces in the area with Katyusha rockets, the commander added.

ISIS has previously used chemical weapons against Peshmerga and civilians in different areas killing and wounding many civilians and Peshmerga fighters, and it still continues to develop and use chemical weapons against Peshmerga forces and civilians in northern Iraq.
