State Dept. hands over Benghazi records
By Jessie Hellmann
The State Department has handed over more than 1,100 records to a House committee investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, the committee said Friday.
The records include files stored on network folders used by senior employees within the Office of the Secretary and emails from top aides to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"It is deplorable that it took over a year for these records to be produced to our committee, and that our Democrat colleagues never lifted a finger to help us get them," Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a statement.
"Shame on them and everyone else who has demanded this committee to give up before gathering all of the facts."
Democrats have repeatedly criticized the panel, which was created nearly two years ago, maintaining it's a veiled attack on Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner.
