Italian police have arrested an Algerian man wanted in Belgium on suspicion of supplying fake documents used by three of the terrorists behind the attacks in Paris and Brussels.

The suspect, named Djamal Eddine Ouali, was apprehended by anti-terrorism authorities in Bellizzi, a town in the province of Salerno in southern Italy.

On Twitter, Italian police said it arrested an Algerian "wanted in Belgium for abetting clandestine immigration linked to the Paris massacre," and part of a group of forgers "also linked to the Brussels massacre."

According to ANSA, Ouali allegedly supplied fake papers to: Najim Laachroui, suicide bomber at Brussels airport; Salah Abdeslam, alleged Paris attacks commando member; and Mohamed Belkaid, another alleged Paris attacker who was killed in a Belgian police raid on March 15.
