Trump's new foreign policy motto: 'America First'

By Jessie Hellmann

March 26, 2016

Donald Trump finally has a name for his brand of foreign policy, a fusion of business tactics and strategies the thinks will restore America to its former glory: “America First.”

“I’m not isolationist, but I am ‘America First,’” Trump said in an interview with The New York Times released Saturday. “We have been disrespected, mocked, and ripped off for many, many years by people that were smarter, shrewder, tougher,” he said, going back to his “Apprentice” roots and demanding the U.S. make better deals with its allies.
“So America first, yes, we will not be ripped off anymore. We’re going to be friendly with everybody, but we’re not going to be taken advantage of by anybody,” Trump said.

The U.S. is up to $21 trillion in debt, he said, and a lot of that is “all of these horrible, horrible decisions.”

“(We’re) protecting Saudi Arabia and not being properly reimbursed for every penny that we spend,” he said, alleging that the U.S. pays for bases in the country while it’s raking in “a billion dollars” a day.

Trump also said that as president he would reevaluate some of the United States’ existing relationships with its allies, including Japan and South Korea, and he called NATO ‘obsolete.’

To many Americans, this will revive images of a prominent member of the "America First Committee" in 1940, the virulent Fr. Coughlin:

Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh were America-Firsters too

All three were at least sympathetic to anti-semitic views.

Not a good slogan for Trump.  It will be exploited by the Democrats, you can be sure.

This is why Trump will never be president.  He wants to play into Putin's hands by weakening the US-European alliance at a time when the war on terror needs as much cooperation as possible.

The man is a foreign policy ignoramus.

Well, then. Welcome back to 1940:

They (almost) kept us out of World War II.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I heard Trump is practicing Heel Clicking and Goose Steps with his friend and dancing with the starts partner Geraldo.

At press time it wasn't clear if they would be performing to the song Springtime For Hitler or the Judy Garland classic, Somewhere over the Rainbow.  Either way....there is no place like home..

Yes, you've already started it.
