2 Wisconsin Polls Show Cruz Leading Trump

By Sandy Fitzgerald   |   Saturday, 26 Mar 2016 01:39 PM

Two new polls in Wisconsin are showing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with narrow leads over Donald Trump in the race for the GOP presidential nomination.

In a statewide Emerson College Polling Society survey conducted from March 20-22 of 439 likely GOP primary voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 points:
Cruz, 36 percent
Trump, 35 percent
Ohio Gov. John Kasich, 19 percent
In a Basswood Research survey conducted for The Washington Free Beacon of 500 likely Republican primary voters, conducted on March 19 and 20:
Cruz, 36 percent
Trump, 31 percent
Kasich, 21 percent
The margin of error was not available for The Free Beacon's poll.

The Emerson pollsters also questioned favorites in potential general elections matchups, finding that Cruz trails Democratic front-runner Clinton by just one point, and that Democrats in general scored better than their potential Republican challengers:
Cruz over Clinton, 46-45 percent;
Bernie Sanders over Trump, 47-38 percent;
And in the Democratic primary, it was Clinton with a six point advantage over Sanders, by 50 to 44 percent, with Sanders leading Clinton among voters 18-34 by 67 to 29 percent. Older voters, though, favored Clinton by much larger margins.

In favorability ratings for Trump and Cruz:
Men: 59/47, Trump; 64/32 Cruz
Women: 40/50 for Trump; 58/32, Cruz
Independents: 33/61, Trump; 48/44, Cruz
In Free Beacon's poll, Cruz's lead would go up a great deal if Trump drops out. If that happens, 48 percents said they'd back Cruz, but just 36 percent said they would back Trump.

Special:
Wisconsin is an open primary race, meaning voters from any political party can participate, and The Free Beacon's survey shows Cruz with the largest lead he's had to date in the state.

Guess the smear campaign was unsuccessful.  We can expect it to get trashier as Trump tries to hang on by a thread.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.
