Don’t Stereotype Trump Supporters

Quote
The Washington Examiner reports that Carly Fiorina warns Republican voters against labeling Donald Trump’s supporters as racist or xenophobic — arguing that it’s a “mistake” to do so and stereotype, or paint Trump’s voters with “a broad brush”:

It is really easy to paint all of Trump’s supporters with a big, wide brush. Just like it’s really easy to paint other groups with a big, wide brush, and it’s always a mistake. I know some Trump voters, and they’re not xenophobic, and they’re not racists, and they’re not backwoods. Now I happen to profoundly disagree with them.

Ultimately, this nation is going to happen to be unified around the things that we all agree upon. It’s actually why I ran for president, because what we all agree on is that the system isn’t working. In a way, I think there are a lot of Bernie Sanders voters who are voting because they are so angry at the system. I think one of the reasons there is a lack of enthusiasm is because a lot of voters understand she [Hillary Clinton] is the system.

Rather than paint someone’s supporters with a broad brush, what I will continue to do is challenge the candidate, whether that’s Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump on who they are.

Fiorina is exactly right on this. In recent discussions with attendees at Trump campaign events, Fiorina’s advice rings true. They point out that Trump supporters are just a cross section of Americans no different than the rest of us. It was specifically stated that there were no racists or other bigots noticed at the Trump events they attended.

You might disagree with Trump supporters’ candidate choice but don’t denigrate them for that. Do as Fiorina does and challenge Trump the candidate and what he says and stands for. Do not paint the Donald’s supporters with a broad brush.

If Trump is a bigot (and he is, given his statements about Hispanics, women, handicapped people, and Muslims) what is one to say about people who would support such a bigot?

I posted this more for the fact that Fiorina is a class act. Trump is flaky on the issue, but I don't know that his supporters are. As a matter of fact one of the few Trump supporters I know is a black woman who was an Obamite until recently.

Fiorina is a class act. I will take that back if she ultimately endorses Trump.

These two speak for themselves.  No need to stereotype.  I agree with Fiorina.  I do like her.  And I watched a video of Cruz earlier also.  I was looking to see if I could find what he said at a religious liberty conference.  He got some protestors and he said "I appreciate you expressing your first Amendment rights."  Cruz is a class act.  Cruz/Fiorina!

Do I stutter?
Not all Trump supporters are Nazis, but all the Nazis support Trump.  Don't take my word for it...head on over to $tormfront, or David Dukes' website.  Some Trump supporters are just ignorant.  Some misguided.  Others insane.  I'm not calling any particular Trump supporters nazis but if the brown shirt fits, wear it.  I honestly can't tell the difference, but I'm willing to concede that you are just misguided.  Your comprehension that being called a nazi would be insulting indicates that you don't consider yourself a nazi, but your lack of embarrassment of your fellow Trump supports confuses the issue.

You appear to suffer from paranoia, among other mental deficiencies.

The two lads there have an armband with a symbol inside a circle. Would you say that might not be a great idea if they had half a brain?

At their age I seriously doubt they have any idea what you are insinuating.  Not all people have sinister motives.

I suppose I should just be happy a Trump supporter is laughing at my mental deficiencies, rather than my physical deficiencies.

Funny, I seem to recall Bernie referring to himself as a 'national' socialist. You do realize, of course that the NSDAP did not refer to themselves as 'Nazis'. They referred to themselves as the "Nationale Socialistische Deutches Arbeiter Partei". You know "National SOCIALIST Workers' Party. And while I'm sure Bernie's attachment to Uncle Joe might blur his statement, I'm pretty sure Nazi fits a whole lot of those people better than Trump supporters. After all, the Nazis took over the streets by organized attacks on other groups' meetings speeches and parades. Anybody accuse the Trump folks of doing that? Say, in Chicago?

I have a sister and her husband, my father-in-law , and my best friend  - all Trump supporters. Are they bigots?  No.  Are they bad people?  No.   Are they liberals?  Hell no.    But what they have in common is they believe his rhetoric.   I don’t.   I see him as a phony. They see him as a white knight (or is that  orange knight?),  who will swoop into Washington and save the republic.    I think he will do the opposite – taking a wrecking ball to the Republican Party and the 2-party system.  And he will bring enough Democrats voters with him that we will lose the Senate and maybe even the House. Yes they may vote for the Donald, but they will still vote for their Dem representative.

Just for today, could we follow Carly's advice (and act like adults)?

The guys pictured above with armbands, incidentally, are Hillary supporters.

Two men who were spotted at a Donald Trump rally touting the Republican presidential front runner while sporting Nazi-esque armbands.

Disturbing, right?

But this is not a sign that Trump’s supporters are fascists, because these dudes are actually Hillary Clinton supporters who went out of their way to make Trump look bad. ...
Rest of story
