:silly: Had a '73 Vega with manual transmission, I don't recall having to push start that one but I did occasionally have to crawl under it and jiggle the linkage on the neutral safety to get it to start. Good thing I was thin in the olden days.

I had several cars.
First was a 48 Chrysler that also had no reverse. At the university near the stadium I would park.
Then push to the hill and get in and pop the clutch on the ride down.
The 50 Buick was also a load to push. I played line in HS football and had very strong legs so
it was doable.
I also pushed the lighter Fords and Chevrolets to start them.

I purchased cars for about $50 each as long as the rubber seemed good.

I started with nothing and put myself through college taking a BSEE and MSEE.

The discipline of football and wrestling helped me overcome many obstacles.

I salute you and all others that followed your path, unfortunately there are fewer and fewer with the values and commitment you show. I used to know a lot of people like you when I was 16, they were waitresses and hosts in the restaurant I worked in and they put themselves through college, starting with a JC. It's sad but the education system and government has created generations of gimme dats who don't think about the near future let alone  plan for a decade down the road.

I have a brother 14 years younger who did the same.
He worked at Sears and as a waiter at Frishe's Big Boy.

Have to smile to get a tip.

Not really shocking to be honest
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

The only thing surprising about that is that it wasn't reported as she attacked a knife in the hands of a man of the Religion of Peace.

@GtHawk

I bought a 57 Ford tudor ht with a 312 and a 3 speed in the floor right after graduating from jump school. Getting paid once a month and kinda liking to drink a little bit,I once went almost a whole month of pushing it in neutral by myself,and then jumping in,throwing it in gear,and popping the clutch out to drive it.

You would THINK it would have occurred to me to not drink my whole paycheck up the first week of the month,but I didn't.  A rebuilt starter was the first thing I bought with the next paycheck,though.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Why is all this TOOL TIME jibber-jabber on a Politics thread? I used to have sex with my car just like you guys.

Hillary connected Judge Bruce Reinhart -- DID NOT KILL HIMSELF
This guy has to be at the top of Hillary's list.
I would not want to be him. I would be scared to death.

You mean like that reporter in Phoenix who broke the story that Loretta Lynch and Billy Clinton had a meeting in a plane on the Sky Harbor tarmac before Hillz was "exonerated" by Comey?  Remember that guy?

He was found dead by suicide, in June, 2021.

Killery is still on the prowl.

I didn't have sex with my car, I had sex in my car.
Though it was in the front seat.

   I admit I've done both.  My 2nd wife would comment that I loved my car (76 Camaro) more than her, which was wrong, but I couldn't help calling her out to the garage, one night, right before I greased the bearings and slid the new cam into that 350,
   Priceless.

@Smokin Joe

You could if you had the tools,and a place to work.  It was cheaper to just buy a new starter,never mind a rebuilt one,than it was to buy the tools.

And even if I had bought the tools,I had no where to keep them but in the trunk of my car,and once people found out I had tools in the trunk of my car,it was just a matter of time before someone used a dent puller to snatch the lock out of the trunk lid and steal the tools.
