Not as much of a joke as some may think. I met a homeless guy who would get arrested for some thing or another every October so he could spend the winter in jail. Also, he called it his 'retirement plan'. So I guess when he gets too old to hustle on the street, he plans to do something big to get life.

Jail is like a hotel to the homeless. A bed, a shower, central air, steady food, it is like a vacation to them. But, with all the DAs refusing to jail anyone for anything, his plan may not work so well these days. If someone can shoot up a subway and be back on the street in a few hours, I cannot imagine what a person has to do in 2022 to actually get thrown in jail and to actually do time. If murder and terrorism doesn't count, then what does? Seems like anything goes these days.
Years ago I did security at the Juvenile Detention Center. One of the kids there (about 10 years old) did the exact same thing. Middle of April he would escape, and live on the streets (Don't ask about his non-existent home life.) when the weather got cold, he would get caught shoplifting a loaf of bread, bag of chips, etc...and they would bring him back. They did an IQ tet on this kid and his numbers were off the charts, we just could not convince him to use his powers for good.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.-Woody Allen
If God invented marathons to keep people from doing anything more stupid, the triathlon must have taken him completely by surprise.
