I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have never voted for Mitt Romney for any office ever nor will I. And BTW @sneakypete you can stick your cult BS where the sun doesn't shine.

I'm not LDS, but I have many friends who are, considering where I live.  Not a "cult."  And there is a share of "anti-LDS" folks around here too.

The larger picture here does suggest that in Utah, Mormons have a decided advantage, which isn't a big surprise.  What is surprising, however, is that the system is producing office-holders that deviate wildly from the Church Teachings.  It's like they want to be like the catholic church or something... </rant>

I have seen polls and reports that citizens of Utah are on scale the most idelologically conservative in the United States.  Their voting patterns sure don't reflect that.

 

Too may people confuse being ideologically conservative with religion. It just ain't so. ALL religions are nothing but cults,and they follow whatever directions their CMMFIC tells them to follow.

Actually, it's the fact that they are MUCH more interested in protecting their tax status than standing up for their own doctrine.  And there are MANY members who are not pleased by that I'll assure you.

Actually, it's the fact that they are MUCH more interested in protecting their tax status than standing up for their own doctrine.  And there are MANY members who are not pleased by that I'll assure you.

But, are there enough fed-up members to start voting for actual conservative candidates in Utah?

I feel their pain.  Meanwhile, Colorado City is in my County in AZ.  We just got the first GOP Precinct Committeemen in that Precinct.  We've started reaching out to the Rural folks of this Rural County, and they seem to be enthused.  Mrs Liberty just got some from Topock, which has also never had PCs.
