It used to be the case here,though. Back before the first "oil crisis". Gas was maybe 29 cents a gallon,and diesel was 19 cents a gallon.

Amazing how the first GAS SHORTAGE resulted in diesel fuel suddenly becoming more expensive than gasoline,ain't it?

IIRC, right in there, there were new regulations passed demanding that diesel have much lower sulfur content. That may be why the cost went up. As for refining, diesel is a straight up distillate of oil, not a blend like gasoline.
