Back in the day there used to be a variety of ear phone jacks, TV used one type, and radios a smaller one, while stereo headphones used large ones, so they made adaptors for differing sizes.That's what this looks like, an adaptor for a smaller plug for small headsets.He just plugs it into the ear phone jack and it cancels out the speaker output.Pretty smart really.
