Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Not to mention conducting studies designed to provide "evidence" that something does not work by ensuring the conditions of the study would violate every line in the instructions.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Brothers, sisters, come on down to that river
Guaranteed you'll never be the same
There's a fountain flowing from the heart of the Savior
Bring your sins and all your guilty stains
Let that river of life wash it all away

@Kamaji

It should also be stated that the governemnt CAN be your friend,and is ever SUPPOSED to be your friend. Serving the people IS the function of government. It is why governments were created.

Let us not lose sight of these facts.

It isn't because of the people who now control it.

It is true that government is supposed to serve the people, not the other way around, but those who are served should never make the mistake of thinking that their servants are their friends.  The two are generally mutually incompatible.

It is time to remind our servant class they are not our rulers.

@Smokin Joe

We should have started doing that back in the 60's,but we allowed the left to dominate for reasons I will never truly understand. My best guess is most of us were naive,and just assumed our elected officials would clear the problems up for us. After all,isn't that why we elected them?

Government is like fire. It is not your friend, even when you need it. Ever.

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence. It is force, and like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

I'd say he knew what he was talking about!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
