Bloodrock "DOA"
Quote
In 1971 mostly on the strength of their single "DOA" which reached #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on March 6, 1971.  also gave the band considerable regional exposure throughout the Southwest and West, particularly in Texas and Southern California. "DOA" was probably the band's most well known and well remembered single. The motivation for writing this song was explained in 2005 by guitarist Lee Pickens. “When I was 17, I wanted to be an airline pilot,” Pickens said. “I had just gotten out of this airplane with a friend of mine, at this little airport, and I watched him take off. He went about 200 feet in the air, rolled and crashed.” The band decided to write a song around the incident and include it on their second album.

I was doing a century bike ride this am groovin to Casey Kasem as he counted down the Top 40 hits from sometime in 1971 on SiriusXM when this depressing little ditty came on.  Good Lord! Enjoy!

Speaking of depressing,it doesn't get much more depressing than songs about things like the Black Plague.

I have no idea why they decided to add "San Francisco Nights" on this album, unless it was as filler.

I kinda loved it when it came out,but it was a definite change from the Animals I knew and loved. I really didn't know what to think of it at first.

Seemed like the more weed I smoked, the more profound it all became, though.

It's a good thing Burton is a musical genius, because he is a total idiot in every other respect. I saw a current photo of him not long ago,and the fool is STILL wearing Che t-shirts.

His English roots poisoned him.  So I give him a pass!  :smokin:
