The Trump Organization’s lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the pro-Rubio Conservative Solutions PAC Monday demanding they pull an ad featuring former students of Trump University describing how Donald Trump defrauded them out of tens of thousands of dollars.
The only problem? Conservative Solutions didn’t make that ad at all.
The Trump University ads were actually made by the American Future Fund PAC, an unrelated organization. Conservative Solutions has run ads in recent days attacking Trump’s foreign policy and endorsement from David Duke, but not Trump University.
Conservative Solutions had some fun with the mix-up in a statement:
It’s no surprise that Donald is desperately afraid of voters learning about how he’s fleeced families out of millions through his scam college, but he can’t scare us off from sharing his record and his business’s D- rating from the Better Business Bureau. And if the wall he promises is of the same quality as the legal work he gets from his lawyers, it’ll crumble in days, as his lawyers missed the fact that THESE AREN’T EVEN OUR ADS!
Embarrassingly enough, this isn’t even the first time this has happened. Trump’s lawyers wrote a cease-and-desist letter demanding the pro-Bush Right to Rise PAC pull attack ads last year that were actually made by sister organization Right to Rise USA.
