....not if you're attempting to attract disenchanted Democrats and Independents, it isn't.

Remember when the prevailing thought was, "Every time we run a Democrat-lite, we lose because the voters can smell a fake and will always vote for the real thing.  We need to offer a real conservative choice!"

<P>

No one forced Turkey to become a Democracy but the people of Turkey. It's not something you can create from the outside and force on a people. THEY have to decide to either do that,or continue killing and being killed by their neighbors.

Mustafa Ataturk forced the people of Turkey to secularize.  He banned beards and ordered the Turkish military and police to forcibly shave offenders in public squares.  He even granted women the right to vote as far back as the early '30s, before some European nations.  (admittedly, there really wasn't much choice at the ballot box - see below)

He, however, didn't make Turkey a democracy.  It had the trappings, but it was a single-party state... *HIS* party.

It wasn't until his death in 1938 that there was a power transfer.

Yet even then, the Turkish military would overthrow the civilian government at the merest hint that the civilian government was not sufficiently secular.

It wasn't until Erdoğan (the current leader) that the Turkish military stopped removing the civilian governments.

That's just silly.

Not even Republicans are falling in line for the ideology gambit this time (if they did, Cruz would be ahead at this point in the race).

What makes you think in the general election that democrats and independents will go for "the most conservative" candidate? They voted for Obama twice!

That's a really good question, but I sure ain't smart enough to have a simple answer.

As for killing all the Muslims goes,I have no idea how you would go about doing that since there are billions of them all over the world, even if you put aside the moral questions. You can kill people, but you cannot kill ideas. Leave just one man and one woman alive, and in a couple of hundred years the problem will pop up again.

BTW,killing all the Muslims wouldn't be genocide since they are not all of one races,so what would the proper term be?

Would "Halocaust" fit.or would Jewish heads explode at that term being used for Muslims? There has to be a word for the destruction of a religion, but for the life of me I can't remember ever hearing it.

What does race have to do with genocide?  It's the deliberate extermination of a people.  So if Italy invaded Switzerland and killed every Swiss citizen, that'd be a Swiss genocide.

I'm sorry, but the contrast already exists...Socialist-Marxism and the confiscation of guns by force...or maybe a last chance to slap the LIV in the face and give them good Free-Market Capitalism.

THAT's the choice this election.

I'm not willing to put forth a candidate solely on his Conservative pedigree with so much at stake.

I'd rather attract people with a patriotic Populist/Nationalist  message....when your opponent is a Commie.

"It aint what you don't know that kills you.  It's what you know that aint so!" ...Theodore Sturgeon
