The political landscape has offered up more than its share of awkward moments over the years. We covered our kids’ eyes when Al Gore rounded second base with Tipper in 2000. We cringed when George W. Bush groped an unamused Angela Merkel in 2006. And we felt better about our own dance skills when Karl “MC” Rove brought down the house with his rap back in 2007.Now, though, we just want to hold Jeb Bush and tell him everything will be OK.At his final stop of the day on Tuesday in New Hampshire, the former Florida governor ripped off an inspired speech that seemed to be going pretty well. He vowed not to “be out there blowharding” or to become an “agitator-in-chief.” He said we needed to get “back in the business of creating a more peaceful world.” http://www.marketwatch.com/story/quieter-candidate-jeb-bush-pleads-for-applause-2016-02-03?dist=afterbell&link=sfmw_fb
We cringed when George W. Bush groped an unamused Angela Merkel in 2006. Whoa, hold on, stop everything...did he really do this? I knew there was something wrong with that man...
He added that believes this country needs a “quieter” president. The crowd must have gotten it turned around, thinking he meant his campaign needs a quieter audience because you could hear a “Bush 2016” pin drop when he finished. So what does Bush do? Why, he does what any fading candidate would do in the face of such humiliation. He asked for some applause. Politely and exasperatedly.
