Sink I'm going to say this as gently as I know how.

What I quoted above is EXACTLY what pisses so many people off about you. It isn't now, and never has been,  all about you or whats good for you! It's about the survival of this once great republic and NOTHING else!

I guess I'm not a part of this great republic.

I express an opinion, and you get mad at me.

Your "already listening" mode is turned on when you see my name.

So he thinks Trump is a cretinous, insulting, self-absorbed human being who is pursuing the presidency as a vanity exercise?

No, he thinks Trump is serious about pursuing the presidency, but otherwise you are pretty close...but you forgot racist, megalomaniac and oppressor...Bernie hit those too.

Well then, you should consider yourself blessed.  I know too many young adults still living with their parents because they owe huge student loans, are working at restaurants for minimum wage, can't afford mandated health insurance.....my niece just turned 26 and had to go off her parent's health insurance - it traumatized her so much that she had to see a counselor and get medication for her anxiety!

The small city I live in - two major employers announced right before Christmas - the laying off of almost 1200 employees - good paying union jobs.  I come from the land of coal - need I say more?

There's a lot of anger around these parts.  I heard not too long ago that the state where Trump is the most popular is West Virginia - (coal?).

And Trump is going to do exactly what about those lost coal jobs?

WRONG! I'm NOT mad at you! I'm simply trying to help you understand something.  And IMHO what I quoted and responded to is NOT an opinion. It is a selfish statement about yourself.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Of course I'm selfish.

So are you. Everybody acts in their own self interest.

It's "perceived" self interest and it's frequently not true.

So who gets to determine what is in one's self-interest?

I'm not going to accept somebody else's dictate on that.

Not everyone and not always!  For an example in 1980 it was definitely NOT the best thing for my personal self interests to vote for Ronald Reagan but I did it anyway because I KNEW it was in the best interest of this country and the future of my children.

Each person's own perception.  And our perceptions about what is good for us are frequently wrong.  One of the things that make us so adorably human.

True that.  We are not moral relativists.

It might too late for them, but I do believe that he will take a business-like approach to our economy and I do believe he will cut bloat and fat in our government bureaucracies - I think he will try to level the playing field in our dealings with China and I think he will come up with a healthcare solution where those of us that can afford to pay for our own will be able to shop across state lines for competitive insurance rates that we can tailor to our own individual needs.

I think he'll take a chop-chop to the EPA and other agencies that are choking the life out of industry.  I think he will have no patience for whiny special interest groups and I think he will improve the care that our veterans are receiving.  A lot of other stuff, but I think he will cut the gov't hindrances that are choking our prosperity to death.

And that's a good start.

With all due respect, where has he said he would do any of that? Or how he would do it?

There's a whole of wishful thinking with Trump supporters.

Not only that, his history is not one of being Conservative or frugal. He does things to excess and the only record I can find of him bringing anything under budget was the Wollman Rink. All of his grandiose proposals require massive expansion of the government, not cutting it. (thus my tag line)

Maybe some of you should stop just reading misleading headlines and go to the source to dig a little and see what has actually been said not out of context.  I've read and heard him say these things.  As far as being specific in how he would do these things - he's been as specific as most any other candidates.

The thing I like the best is that he is not a politician and his thinking on the subjects will naturally take a different approach than the tired bureaucratic thinking that has gotten us to where we are.  I'm ready for a fresh viewpoint, an honest viewpoint and I'm ready for a leader that has actually DONE things in their life.  I don't want to give these life-career politicians any more chances, I'm through with them.

The crisis in Coal Country could start to be alleviated by any of the GOP candidates his first week in office,  because much of the recent downturn is the direct result of executive global warming policies that can be rescinded.

It isn't a problem that requires a loudmouth jerk.

(O)ur perceptions about what is good for us are frequently wrong.  One of the things that make us so adorably human.

The problem is that the government's perceptions about what is good for us are frequently wronger. One of the things that's made it the nation's
largest organised crime family.
