With just 48 hours left before Iowans head to their caucuses, Bernie Sanders held a massive rally in Iowa City on Saturday night.

The democrats have the same battle going on as we do, a populist temper tantrum against what they think is entrenched establishment.

No. They don't. These are people who have never experienced the America that we all grew up in. How can they 'miss' something that they have never known?

They do not know what socialism is, and they do not care. The only thing they know about Sanders is that he is not Hillary.

We throw around the label 'sheeple' a lot. But these guys really are sheep. Just doing what they think they are 'supposed' to be doing, without ever knowing or even asking 'why'.

I've seen some of them interviewed and asked that question, it looks something like this to me:

"Socialism.....?"

(Thinking......  where have I heard that word before?     school?    (I can't remember)....  socialism, socialism....  I like Social Media, maybe it is like that!  so...  okay....  I know, I know, they say Europe has that...  at least I think.....   but wait, this must be a trick question!  I *know* that Bernie is for it!!  and it means that things are going to be FREE!! So yeah, I've got it now....)

"Sure, I think that it will be great!  Bernie is on OUR side!!"

Who from the political center-right is really selling capitalism and conservative economic policies?

I am an old Reagan era capitalist, and I remember clearly the series by Milton Friedman in the 1970s which aired on PBS.

I also know that empirical data would prove both Scandinavia and the US to be "mixed economies" and to have the highest level of prosperity (save a few tiny oil kingdoms).

I do not hear effective voices on the right talking in depth about preserving our system (conserving it).

I hear MORE of such an appeal from Trump with "Make America Great," than from the others.

The Bern is appealing to empty young minds. The GOP is NOT offering a concise persuasive explanation for why he is wrong and dangerous.

Me too. I got the same vibe. Idiot people in a country being run by idiots. Oh well. We shall see what happens next. I suspect that it will not be good.

I would wager the last two generations (X, Y, whatever the heck they're called) in their gubmint schools didn't learn a bit of truth about communism, the Soviet Union or anything remotely related to the tyranny of countries like Cuba, the USSR, China, etc. They have no clue just how oppressive it is, but I guess they're just "berning" to find out.
