Government Expands to Replace Parents in Education
by S. Noble • January 24, 2016

Small Town Faces Economic Collapse As Employers Cut Thousands Of Workers

As Rep. Mike Lee said in December, schools aren’t factories but government has just expanded again to take more control of children from parents and local jurisdictions.

Agenda 2030 is pushing for globalized education, the federal education act has been reauthorized to pass more expenses on to the states, and a new “community schools” act is a Marxist dream. All conspire to remove parents from the education of their children which government hopes to expand from birth through adulthood.

COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

The Full-Service Community Schools Act is back for 2016. It would amend title V of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to establish a full-service community schools grant program. It was introduced by Sherrod Brown in July but we’ve seen the same bill every year.

This is what our “community schools” aka all-consuming government schools will do: develop an “It Takes a Village” approach to education with the government’s jackboot over all of it.

There will be a community-based effort to coordinate and integrate educational, developmental, family, health, and other comprehensive services through community-based organizations and public and private partnerships. They will integrate all manner of community services and they will be available to students, families, and the community, such as access during the school year (including before- and after-school hours and weekends), as well as during the summer.

They fail at education so instead of improving it, they are expanding their control over other peoples’ children by creating “full-serve” government schools.

As is the usual with government expansion, they begin with the vulnerable poor. and eventually it reaches all of society and becomes the norm. They believe the government can better educate your children.

On his website, the left-wing congressman Steny Hoyer, a moving force for community schools, wrote in 2014:

For low-income parents working multiple jobs as they send their kids to school, finding time to provide them with adequate checkups and dental screening is often very difficult. The full-community schools model locates these services at their children’s school along with nutritional counseling, financial literacy education, and adult classes – services that in most communities are already offered – to make it easier for both students and parents to access these services under one roof. It also helps ensure parents have the tools they need to support their children’s learning, so critically important to the children’s success.

Our taxes will go to educate adults, illegal or otherwise, provide nutrition counseling, dental, medical, and psychological services. This will be funded with federal grants which are federal tax dollars, and local dollars and they will be called “schools”.

The government wants control of the children at earlier and earlier ages and they want them 24/7. In May, in Arlington, VA, at the Youth Violence Prevention Summit, Education Secretary Arne Duncan proposed government-run public boarding schools which would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Duncan said, “One idea that I threw out … is this idea of public boarding schools. That’s a little bit of a different idea, a controversial idea. But the question is—do we have some children where there’s not a mom, there’s not a dad, there’s not a grandma, there’s just nobody at home? There’s just certain kids we should have 24/7 to really create a safe environment and give them a chance to be successful.”

There is no reason to believe these schools and programs won’t be enveloped in left-wing indoctrination in this left-wing structure with left-wing materials from left-wing publishers, but even if it isn’t, it is a government takeover of children from parents and it’s a re-education of the adults.

It assumes incompetence on the part of the people who need the government in every aspect of their lives.

Remember The Life of Julia that the Obama people flooded the media with and which showed government taking over the life of Julia from birth to death?

Full service government-run community schools are being realized with no small help from the Congress. Here in New York City, a city run by a communist mayor with 50% support according to the latest polls, community schools are popping up all over. The leftist union leader is gleeful over it.

Attorney and activist Jane Robbins with Truth in American Education said that the “community learning centers” scheme means “schools will be expanded to replace family and church as the center of every child’s life, offering myriad ‘services’ including mental-health programs.” She concluded:

“Few things should alarm parents more than the prospect of the government’s assessing their child’s mental health and proceeding to fix any problem the government claims to find.”

Common Core cut out parents. You can only imagine what this model will do. How long before the government feels they have all the rights and you have known.

NATIONALIZED EDUCATION

The U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services, for example, are currently pursuing a policy in which parents are described as “equal partners” with government in the raising of their own children.

“It is the position of the Departments that all early childhood programs and schools recognize families as equal partners in improving children’s development, learning and wellness across all settings, and over the course of their children’s developmental and educational experiences,” reads the draft policy posted on the federal government’s website.

ESEA, the Every Student Succeeds Act, another government act to take education out of the hands of parents in a big way, was reauthorized in December to continue the big government, factory approach to education. It was agreed to by a bipartisan agreement of Congress led by Paul Ryan who are helping the administration grow government and put government in control of our children.

Rep. Mike Lee was eloquent.

This would be a serious setback for America’s schools, teachers, and students, one that will have sweeping consequences for decades to come… because when we get education policy wrong – as this bill does and as we have for so many years – it affects not just the quality of education students receive as children, but the quality of life available to them as adults.

The problem is not just the particular provisions of this bill, but the dysfunctional and outdated model of education on which it’s built – a model that concentrates authority over education decisions in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats, instead of parents, teachers, principals, and local school boards.

[…]

And yet, here we are: once again on the verge of passing another ESEA reauthorization built on the same K-12 education model that has trapped so many kids in failing schools and confined America’s education system to a state of stagnant mediocrity for half a century.

This is not simply a failure of policy – it’s a failure of imagination.

[…]

In fact, since 1969, test scores in reading and math have hardly budged for public school students of all ages – even while per-pupil spending has nearly doubled and school staff has increased more than 80 percent.

The bill was passed the next day by a bipartisan majority after the made this speech. Watch:

According to “Conservative Review”:

The bill retains the fundamental mandate requiring states to concoct uniform standards in reading and math that would be applied statewide throughout all jurisdictions. The bill also keeps the plethora of federal testing requirements that have been the driving force behind the adoption of Common Core, and does nothing to address the duplicate and wasteful programs funded by the Department of Education.  Although a few programs were cut, the bill retains many more programs and even adds a few, such as a pre-K program grant, which will increase spending levels increase over the life of S. 1177. And despite popular rhetoric from supporters, ESSA does not eliminate Common Core, much to the outrage of millions of parents.

ESSA is preparing pre-K education unconstitutionally.

GLOBAL EDUCATION

All this serves the goals of the U.N. and their global socialist education.

In May, Ban Ki-Moon declared education is a human right, not a privilege. He dismissed Western values of “negative rights” (our Bill of Rights) and called for global education.

The UN’s “bold agenda for sustainable development” known as the “The Declaration on Education 2030”, of which the US will become the largest financiers, calls for the implementation of a “common agenda” for education worldwide, one which supports their Socialist values with sustainability topping the list.

The global targets for the program are to eradicate poverty, promote the sustainability agenda, develop a Marxist classless society in which future generations of the world are “without distinction of any kind such as age, sex, disability, culture, race, ethnicity, origin, migratory status, religion, economic or other status”. It also reaffirms Agenda 21 which calls for indirect control of local governments by the U.N.

As government grows larger and takes control of your child’s education, be aware that there is also a globalist socialist agenda we will shrink into at some point.

In the United States, our socialist candidates for president want free pre-K and free college. Once the government uses tax dollars to fund these things, they control the curricula, the method of instruction, and they begin to inch forward in their goal to control the parents or just take over for them.
