Bartiromo: What Does Socialist Sanders' Surge Say About Our Country?
By Ken Shepherd | January 14, 2016 | 9:59 PM EST

Yeah, the headline is a bit of a tongue-twister, but I couldn't resist. Here's a great question from Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo about what self-avowed socialist Bernie Sanders' surging campaign in the Democratic primary says about the state of the Democratic Party.

Fox Business Network
Republican Presidential Debate
January 14, 2016

MARIA BARTIROMO, moderator: Governor Kasich, Hillary Clinton is getting some serious competition from Senator Bernie Sanders.

He's now at 41 percent in the latest CBS/New York Times poll. Vice president Biden sang his praises saying "Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real and he has credibility on it."

So what does it say about our country that a candidate who is a self-avowed socialist and who doesn't think a 90 percent tax rate is too high, could be the Democratic nominee?

Gov. JOHN KASICH (R-Ohio): Well, if that's the case, we're going to win every state, if Bernie Sanders is the nominee. [applause, scattered cheers from audience] That's not even an issue.
