Obamacare Insurance Holders to Be Hit With Steep Premium Hikes in '16

Obamacare insurance holders in 49 states will get socked with premium hikes this year, according to a non-profit business league.

A tracker released Monday by the Virginia-based Freedom Partners shows only Mississippi with no expected rise in health insurance premiums on the individual marketplace in 2016.

"And in most states, health insurance premiums are rising by double digits," the Koch brothers-linked Freedom Partners said of the analysis.

According to the analysis, states with the biggest increases are:

Minnesota: 47.7 percent
Alaska: 39.1 percent
Tennessee: 35.2 percent
Hawaii: 30 percent
Oklahoma: 29.4 percent.

The states with 20 percent-plus hikes are:

North Carolina: 29 percent
Alabama: 28.3 percent
Montana: 26.3 percent
West Virginia: 24 percent
Oregon: 23.2 percent
Missouri: 23.1 percent
Kansas: 23 percent
Delaware: 22.1 percent
Iowa: 22 percent
Illinois: 21.9 percent
Maryland: 20.6 percent
Idaho: 20.1 percent

"'You can keep your plan' turned out not to be true, and it turns out that the 'Obamacare will make health care affordable' promise is no different," Nathan Nascimento, a senior policy adviser at Freedom Partners, said in a statement.

"Our data are conclusive: The Affordable Care Act has driven up costs across the board, with people in 49 states seeing premium increases on the individual market this year. President Obama has chosen to look the other way, but the millions of Americans being crushed by the costs of Obamacare don’t have the same luxury."
