The Trump Train rolled into Biloxi, Mississippi last night and by all accounts, brought the house down. Some 15,000 attended the event, a number that is said to have set a new political rally record in that state. The support among retired military was particularly strong.
Despite their neck and neck battle in national polls, it is undeniable that “Trump Crowds” far surpass “Clinton Crowds” in both number and enthusiasm for their candidate:
During his nearly two-hour speech/discussion/stream of consciousness presentation in Biloxi, Mr. Trump spent the most time going after his Democrat rival, Hillary Clinton. The only GOP candidates he briefly mentioned were Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio who he said were not being entirely honest to voters.
Trump also blasted the GOP Congress for passing the most recent, debt-laden spending bill which included funding for Barack Obama’s highly controversial Syrian refugee program. The Iran nuclear deal was mentioned yet again, though this time Mr. Trump said it was such a historically bad deal, “…there has to be something else going on” indicating a belief there were possibly secret motives by the Obama administration to see the deal concluded. Iran has since broken several tenets of that deal, all without repercussions from the Obama White House.
It was Hillary Clinton who drew the most ire from the standing-room-only crowd though.
“My colon clenches when I hear her name.”
So said a 52-year old retired Gulf War veteran as reported in the Washington Post.
It is a sentiment that appears to be shared among many if not most of Donald Trump’s legions of enthusiastic supporters.
