Gallup: Clinton most admired woman in the US for 20th year

By Mark Hensch

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton and President Obama are again the woman and man Americans most admire worldwide, according to an annual Gallup survey.

GOP front-runner Donald Trump ties with Pope Francis for second-most admired man.

About 13 percent say the former secretary of State is the most admirable woman living anywhere in the world today, according to the poll released Monday.

Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai ranks second, with 5 percent, and talk show host Oprah Winfrey ties for third with first lady Michelle Obama, at 4 percent.

GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, British Queen Elizabeth II and German Chancellor Angela Merkel all ranked fourth, each with 2 percent. No other female luminary registers above 1 percent.

Monday's results mark the 20th time Clinton has ranked at the top of Gallup's list since 1993, the polling firm said.

Former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt trails Clinton, with 13 wins in that category, and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has six victories.

The poll also found that Obama is the man most Americans admire worldwide. About 17 percent name Obama, giving him his eighth victory in that category since 2007.

Pope Francis is next, in a second-place tie with Donald Trump, each taking 5 percent.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, ranks third, with 3 percent. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the last man above 1 percent, taking 2 percent support.

Gallup conducted its latest sampling of 824 adults aged 18 years and older via telephone interviews Dec. 2–6 nationwide. It has a 4 percentage point margin of error.

Standardized IQ (Intelligence Quotient) distribution among adults. Much is explained by the left third of the bell curve.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Where do they find the half-wits they survey for this poll, working at the DMV?

As in, 1/2 of our population is below average?

This bizarre worship of the political class must stop.

Politicians are not royalty, they're not ordained by God. They've won an election--that's all. They're public servants, back when public servants were actually public servants--and not masters of the universe.

Maybe in prison??

It's the 26% or so that fall below 90 IQ points that are most concerning, except if you are a Democrat.

I would beg to differ...politicians have turned themselves into royalty in this country.  There really is not much difference in power and wealth (except that most royalty in history would drool at the kind of wealth that politicians in America today can control).

I agree. We have royalty in terms of wealth, power, and even birthright.

The American public not only accepts that the political class has done this, the public is enthusiastic about their favorite royals, (politicians).

Which is why I usually call them"Mr." or "Ms" instead of " Senator" or "President" or whatever is their job title, and that only while they're in that office, IMHO.

These are the same surveys that show Oprah Winfrey near the top, too. Why?

Andy, you left something very important out.
The graphic you posted shows I.Q. for WHITE adults.

For non-whites (excluding north Asians), the numbers are very different.
The entire chart gets shifted "leftward"... from 1 to 1.3 standard deviations ...
