Mr Close, thank you for "Remember When", one of my all time favorite songs. Now I am wondering how a thread devoted to it somehow morphed into something to do with Elton John.

Ok, that be as it may, I will add another C&W song which like "Remember When" deals with the ups and downs of marital bliss.

What can I say??  I am often LITERAL to a fault!!  "Remember When" trigged "I REMEMBER WHEN rock was young..."  lol

I thank you mightily for that. It is pretty.

Listening to Alan Jackson, with its lush arrangements and string accompaniments, though some steel guitar, makes me reflect on how much C&W has changed over the years. To that end I will add a video of the man who I believe epitomizes C&W in an earlier time.

Hank is still my favorite of all time. Hard to listen to though, he is near my grandma and grandpa's age that all were from the hills of Alabama and Tennessee. What an amazing generation, his music makes me tear up that they are all gone now.
