Portsmouth, New Hampshire (CNN)Donald Trump announced Thursday that if elected president, he would sign an executive order to mandate the death penalty for convicted cop killers. Outside the endorsement event, which was closed to the public, a couple hundred protesters gathered with signs denouncing a number of Trump's controversial stances, including his proposal Monday to bar most Muslims from entering the country.

The poll was taken after the San Bernardino massacre, and Trump's subsequent call for a Muslim travel ban. "I wouldn't feel safe [if Trump became president]", said Aisha Eitahlawy, a Muslim. "Anybody killing a police officer: death penalty. It's going to happen, OK?" "We can't worry about being politically correct", Trump said before a swarm of media, including multiple foreign news outlets. The union represents almost 5,000 members from about 200 locals across the region, according to Flynn, but has not received much attention from candidates campaigning in the early-voting state.

The Republican presidential front-runner is calling for a temporary ban on allowing Muslim immigrants to enter the United States until the nation can make sure it is better protected from terrorism. Speaking at a police labour union meeting in New Hampshire, Mr Trump criticised efforts by the Obama administration to take away military equipment from security forces following a spate of deadly shootings by officers. Meanwhile, a poll released this week shows Trump gaining support-32 percent of likely Republican voters in New Hampshire say they'll pick him.

When asked if the organization had any Muslim-American police officers, Flynn said he did not want to comment. "I think we need to get a grip on our borders, period". Every time we open up the news, people are taking buckshots at us, whether it's literally or figuratively. This isn't a religious thing. While there is now a federal death penalty, states have their own laws on capital punishment and governors and legislatures have the authority to decide what those statutes look like independent of a presidential executive order. "We have people talking, I'll tell you that", the Republican frontrunner said, "and they're talking very positively". "Those are the same people who stood out in the middle of (Interstate) 93 laying down on the sidewalk saying, 'Black lives matter, '" Flynn said.
