Federal agents have conducted a search in Riverside, California, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed on Saturday, and neighbors said the raid took place at a house on the street where Syed Farook, the husband who along with his wife killed 14 people in a mass shooting in California this week, once lived.

Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Laura Eimiller confirmed that a federal search warrant had been executed in Riverside overnight, but declined to give the address or comment on the reason for the search.

Neighbor Hellen Fernandez said that Farook, when he lived in Riverside, appeared to have been friends with a man at the house that was searched.

Part of the garage door was torn apart and a window to it was broken at the house that neighbors said was searched by federal agents, according to a Reuters reporter who was at the scene.

Farook, 28, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, 29, most recently lived in Redlands, a community about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Riverside, when they shot to death 14 people on Wednesday at a party for civil servants in nearby San Bernardino. The couple died hours later in a shootout with police.

NBC News reported the house that was searched is home to a man who authorities believe bought the assault rifles Farook and Malik used in the attack.

Islamic State said on Saturday that the couple were followers of the militant group. U.S. authorities are investigating the shootings as an act of terrorism.

Neighbor purportedly bought 'assault-style' weapons used by San Bernardino suspects

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) --
An old neighbor of the two San Bernardino shooting suspects is believed to have purchased the "assault-style" rifles used in Wednesday's attack, according to authorities.

Overnight, law enforcement officials raided the Riverside home of Enrique Marquez, who lived next door to an old address of shooter Syed Farook, according to public records. Two of the highly-modified assault weapons had been purchased by a third party suspected to be Marquez.

Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik used the two rifles, along with two handguns that the couple purchased, to kill 14 people at the Inland Regional Center during a holiday party. The two were later killed in a gunbattle between police a little more than a mile away from the center.

Authorities have previously said that all four weapons used in the attack were purchased legally.

A law enforcement official told the Associated Press, a person who lives at the house bought the rifles used them in the attack more than three years ago and said authorities haven't been able to talk to him because he checked himself into a mental hospital following the attack.

FBI Director James Comey said the gun purchaser was "not a suspect, at least at this point."

On Saturday, when a woman and two young men arrived at Marquez's home, located on Tomslin Avenue, they had no comment and told reporters to stay off the property.

Neighbor Dorian, who only wanted to give his first name, said two people came out of the house during the overnight raid, and the FBI agents asked them if there were any explosives in the house, however, the FBI did not disclose what exactly they were looking for in the search.

Law enforcement officials tell ABC News that Malik is increasingly becoming the focus of the investigation, and they are looking into whether she radicalized her husband.

The director of the FBI said, at the moment, there's no indication that Farook and Malik were members of a terror cell.

But we need to close the non-existent gun show loophole and confiscate the weapons of law-abiding citizens, you know, just in case.

In most places you can check in - it's the getting back out that's the hard part.

Enrique Marquez may simply be the victim of muslim terrorist manipulation and exploitation.

Maybe the terrorist to be, told Enrique Marquez some lies, to get him to make the purchases.

And maybe when Enrique Marquez realized what happened last week, it made him so upset he checked into the hospital, lest he commit suicide or something.

Exactly!

(although if memory serves, the actual Hotel California was supposed to be a house of ill repute and the folks who couldn't check out the women who "worked" there).
